Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery

Client: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

DESCRIPTION

If a child has epilepsy, some neurons in the brain may fire too rapidly, sending many messages at the same time. This overwhelms the brain and causes seizures. This animation breaks down the steps of a two-part surgery to help reduce or stop seizures. The first part of the surgery involves placement of electrodes on the brain by a neurosurgeon to monitor brain activity. Then, the part of the brain causing seizures is removed.

Brain surgery is a scary experience for any child or parent. By using stylized models and bright, pastel color palettes, Nucleus aims to help alleviate these fears while educating viewers on key steps of the procedure.
