Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome

If a baby has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, their doctor may recommend the hybrid stage I treatment approach. The goal of the procedure is to improve blood flow in the baby’s body while minimizing the risks of conventional open heart surgery.

This animation explains the steps of this procedure in a way that is understandable and comforting to the baby’s parents/caretakers. Knowing that the audience would be parents/caretakers whose infant was undergoing major surgery, Nucleus chose a soft pastel color palette and simplified 3D models to reduce fear about the procedure.
