Chronic inflammation is a harmful process in which the immune system remains active for prolonged periods of time. Research has demonstrated that targeting the cannabinoid receptor type II on immune cells can limit fibrosis and reduce inflammation.

Lenabasum is an investigational drug that is designed to specifically bind to these receptors. Once bound, the drug molecule works as an agonist, using the body’s own signals to activate the resolution of inflammation.
